Meet Dr. Westman

Dr Michael Westman, hometown dentist in Racine WI, graduated from the University of Minnesota school of Dentistry with a DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree in 1991. He gained experience practicing corporate-insurance general dentistry for one year in the suburbs of Minneapolis and then returned in 1992 to the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry to spend the next few years earning a Master of Science in Dentistry specializing in prosthodontics. The American Dental Association recognizes Dr Westman as a specialist; however, he does not limit his practice to prosthodontics. He chooses to serve his patients best by providing excellent general care for all teeth and gums; in addition to the unique specialty services he and his team provide.

After training in Minnesota, Dr Westman opened a practice in Cedar Rapids, IA where he was recruited as a specialist in 1995. He enjoyed teaching dental students at the University of Iowa while growing his practice, but there never felt like home; so, in 2000 Dr Westman and his family moved to his hometown of Racine where he oversaw the design and construction of the Wind Point Dental building.

While not at the office, Dr. Westman can often be found enjoying the outdoors – especially around his home in the summertime. Living very close to Lake Michigan with Rusty – his beloved Australian Labradoodle – they enjoy walks, time on the beach, and yardwork (generally a lot of playing around). Rusty occasionally makes an appearance at the office – a common request from patients.
Dr. Westman is a foodie! He enjoys cooking, entertaining, and restaurant dining with family and friends. He has dabbled in many adventures over the years; the most consistently enjoyable have involved his three children – Victoria, Alex, and Erik – all game for conversation topics at the office.

A Message from Dr. Westman

I’ve seen dentistry evolve an enormous amount over the last thirty-something years practicing dentistry. In thirty-something years practicing dentistry I have had the privilege of experiencing so much. I was taught old-school, respect old-school, and still abide by old-school principles. I but I’ve seen the development of new-school, old-tech, new-tech, fads, gimmicks, and short-cuts.
The best dentistry goes well beyond treating individual teeth and gums and emergencies. Today’s best care actually improves health!
