Need Snoring and / or Sleep Apnea Solutions?

MicrO2 is an easy-to-use and comfortable device that safely alleviates snoring and symptoms of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. If a patient has been diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea or snores, the MicrO2 lower jaw advancement device will assist him/her in waking with a better sense of rest and provide the energy needed to enjoy the day.

How does MicrO2 work?

The MicrO2 is designed to be the smallest and most comfortable custom-made jaw advancement device available. It is intended to offer the most tongue space, as well as the ability to open and close during wear. The MicrO2 device holds the lower jaw in a slightly forward position, thus gently moving the throat tissues away from the back of the throat. This opens the way for airflow and helps reduce snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

MicrO2 device is custom made to uniquely fit each individual that it is fabricated for. The device comes in two parts. One device fits over the upper teeth and one over the lower teeth. The device will also have a series of additional Upper or Lower devices; each one made to position the lower jaw to the most effective position. There are no confusing mechanisms to adjust on the actual device. Jaw advancements can be easily achieved by simply removing the current Upper or Lower device and inserting the next Upper or Lower device in the MicrO2 advancing series.

The MicrO2 devices are very easy to use and to care for. They do not require any mechanical adjustments, like turning screws with keys or screwdrivers, or changing positions with elastics. And they don’t require any difficult handling or maintenance instructions.

Only a dentist can provide MicrO2. Specially trained dentists play a key role in screening for Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Then, partnering with medical doctors, the MicrO2 is provided to treat those suffering from Obstructive Sleep Apnea as well as individuals needing an alternative therapy to CPAP.

Advantage and Benefits

LINGUAL-FREE DESIGN

The MicrO2 is designed to be lingual-free and is intended to offer patients maximum tongue space. By not taking up space for the tongue, which most oral appliances do, the tongue has room to stay in the mouth where it is supposed to be, not blocking the airway. With more space for the tongue, the patient is able to wear the device more comfortably and is ideal for alleviating symptoms.

TWIN 90º ANGLE MECHANISM-FREE POSTS

MicrO2’s 90-degree post angle keeps the jaw forward even when the mouth opens during sleep. This means that, unlike other devices, the jaw will stay in place to optimize Obstructive Sleep Apnea therapy.

CONTOURED LIP AND CHEEK BORDERS

With this special feature, MicrO2’s contoured lip and cheek borders fit to the natural curve of the mouth better. This also allows for greater comfort during use so the patient can sleep better throughout the night.

CONTROL-CURED DENTAL PMMA MATERIAL

MicrO2 is the first and only Mandibular Repositioning Device that uses control-cured dental PMMA. This allows the device to be compact and strong at the same time, making it a more convenient choice.

DIGITAL PRECISION

The first CAD/CAM milled OSA device, MicrO2 is precise, predictable, and easy-to-use. Therefore, MicrO2 more accurately delivers the patient’s prescribed bite so that the fit and therapeutic qualities of the final device are optimal.

Research studies have shown that using an oral appliance such as the MicrO2can assist in alleviating symptoms of Obstructive Sleep Apnea and snoring by holding the lower jaw forward during sleep. This gentle protruding of the lower jaw allows the airway to open more and assists in breathing without throat or tongue interferences. The use of MicrO2can enhance the quality of sleep, as well as lessen daytime sleepiness, irritability, sluggish feelings, headaches, and other serious health problems that come from sleep-disordered breathing. In addition, bed partners may experience and enjoy more quiet nights of sleep.

NightLase®

Fotona’s NightLase® therapy is a non-invasive, patient-friendly laser treatment for increasing the quality of a patient’s sleep. NightLase reduces the effects of sleep apnea and decreases the amplitude of snoring by means of a gentle, laser-induced tightening effect caused by the contraction of collagen in the oral mucosa tissue.

Simple, Safe and Effective

Fotona’s patented Er:YAG laser modality optimizes the length of laser pulses, allowing for the safe penetration of heat into the oral mucosa tissue. It is gentle enough to be used on the sensitive tissue inside the mouth, but strong enough to provide clinically efficacious heating.

NightLase is easy for any doctor or dentist to perform and has a high success rate in producing a positive change in sleep patterns. Research has shown that NightLase reduces and attenuates snoring and provides an effective, non-invasive way to lessen the effects of sleep apnea.

A Patient Friendly Solution

A full course of NightLase consists of three separate treatment sessions over a six week period. The final results of the treatment have been shown to last up to a year, and the therapy can be repeated.

Patients find NightLase to be a highly comfortable and satisfying solution. NightLase requires no device to be worn during sleep and involves no chemical treatment. It’s a gentle and easy way for your patients to regain a good night’s rest.

Our dual-wavelength laser system from Fotona is ideal for NightLase® as well as other facial aesthetic treatments:

Long term sleep solution: Orthodontics… not just for crooked teeth

When sleep shortages are keeping you from being productive during the day, orthodontic solutions may be considered.

Because your jaw growth is a gradual process, your upper and lower jaws may develop at different rates. This may directly affect your breathing and in turn, contribute to your sleep deficiency. Aside from a mismatched jaw due to conflicting growth rates, the positioning could have also been affected by an injury or it could have been a birth defect – gone undetected. Additionally, a deep overbite or buck teeth can be an indicator of a sleep apnea problem.

You may potentially benefit from orthodontic treatment through the re-positioning and re-alignment of your jaw. This is usually achieved by expanding the upper and lower jaw and ultimately widening your breathing airway. Broadening narrow arches and opening an over closed bite makes more room for the tongue and opens up the airway.

In children and young adults, palate widening orthodontic appliances can create more breathing room in the nasal passages to make it easier to breath through the nose.

What results can I expect?

Orthodontics can help change the pattern of your teeth and bite.

The objective of orthodontic treatment is to correct of a variety of facial and jaw irregularities, resulting in an improved ability to breathe and consequently, sleep.
